Unicorn: a mythical animal typically represented as a horse with a single straight horn projecting from its forehead. Sometimes use as a term to express, something that is highly desirable but difficult to find or obtain. Judging the newly chosen logo of the Unicove Web wallet, this mythical creature maybe offering us a significant hint, as to what the team maybe trying to accomplish, and as far as the latter definition is concerned, this is most certainly the case within the world of EOS-IO on boarding. This week we will be going over a post I read recently by team-greymass titled “Sharing pieces of a larger vision” and I will be giving you my opinion on what I believe this means for the world of EOS-IO, links to the original will be in the description, OK now let's get started.
To paraphrase, the post first begins with, one of our aims at Greymass has always been to develop products, tools, and protocols that enable the most straightforward and secure user experiences possible in the cryptocurrency space. Another project we've been working on to help achieve this goal is a full EOSIO web wallet, which we previously mentioned here, at forums.eoscommunity.org
Today, we're announcing the company's new name and brand, as well as the launch of its new website. What is the benefit of a Web Wallet? As a starting point, we developed Anchor Desktop, which is a full-featured desktop wallet for EOSIO blockchains. In the following months, we developed Anchor Mobile, which essentially serves as an authenticator and a secure storage location for your keys. By separating key management from the wallet interface, we are able to provide even greater security, usability, and flexibility to the end user in the process.
Unicove is designed to work in conjunction with Anchor, allowing users to store their keys securely on their desktop or mobile device while still having access to a full-featured web wallet from any web browser. Additionally, this allows us to iterate on the wallet faster, allowing us to simply add new features without ever jeopardizing the security of our users. In addition, we thought that there was a gap in the EOSIO ecosystem that needed to be filled by us. There hasn't yet been a web wallet that is specifically designed for EOSIO that combines feature richness with ease of use.
We want to create a My-Ether-Wallet-like application for EOSIO. Important Characteristics, Unicove will, at its core, include all of the essential functionality found in any EOSIO wallet. Among other things, this includes the capacity to send and receive tokens as well as manage resources and earn money from tokens, as well as engage in governance. Aside from that, we've developed and are continuing to develop a number of innovative features that we are quite happy to share with the community. Although not all of these features have been fully developed yet, they are all part of the roadmap and the overall concept for the ultimate product.
Establishing a User Account, Unicove will integrate directly with the account creation infrastructure we've developed for Anchor, allowing users to simply create a new account from the website and link it to their Anchor subscription. Not only will we do this to improve user onboarding, but we will also utilize it as a working example of how any application can accomplish the same thing as well. The account creation platform will accept both fiat and cryptocurrency payments for account creation, and it will also allow dApps and businesses to provide free accounts to their customers by distributing a pre-generated code to those who register on the platform. More information on account creation may be found in our recently funded Eden proposal.
Controlling the use of tokens and funds, Unicove creates a centralized location where you can quickly manage all of your account balances in one convenient location. You'll be able to get an overview of all of the different tokens you own, as well as historical information, and you'll be able to send and receive tokens with relative ease.
Our ultimate goal at Unicove is to eliminate the need for users to be concerned with network resources at all times. We will be able to completely eliminate the need for a CPU, a network, and RAM as we deeply integrate our Fuel to manage it all. Users who choose to handle all of their own resources will be able to do so with ease thanks to tools that have been intended to be simple and intuitive to use.
All of the networks that support staking, REX, and PowerUp will have support for all of these features as well. Also, it is possible to earn a return on your tokens in a number of methods that are native to the EOSIO blockchains themselves. Unicove will make it simple for you to discover and manage these resources.
Just my opinion, I think the vision of a, my-ether-wallet style web wallet would be a much needed in welcome improvement to the EOS-IO ecosphere, I don't think that I only speak for myself when I say that ease of use, and on boarding new users, have arguably been one of the most significant bottlenecks most EOS-IO style blockchains have faced the last couple of years. EOS-IO technology is far ahead of the game in so many ways, but realistically how useful is this if there is a bottleneck at the metaphorical doorway, where new users cannot easily enter. For me the biggest takeaway in this post was, and I quote “Establishing a User Account, Unicove will integrate directly with the account creation infrastructure we've developed for Anchor, allowing users to simply create a new account from the website and link it to their Anchor subscription. More information on account creation may be found in our recently funded Eden proposal.” End Quote, this is a major step in the right direction, account creation is key if we are ever to close the adoption gap that exists between, the EOS-IO ecosphere and the legacy blockchains, as much as it may paint us to hear it, as slow as legacy blockchain is, there adoption curve is still quite high, and I will speculate that the ability to easily spin up a new account freely and simply is a major part of that, we at least need to offer comparable account creation options, if we hope to have future mainstream adoption, I for one salute team-greymass, for their superb focus on the areas that need it the most.
To all EOS holders, account creation could be the key.
The EOSIO ecosystem has always excited and continues to excite me, Unicove Wallet sounds great. Thanks for the article.
With each article, my confidence in EOS increases and I get some more eos.
My favorite part is that you don't write to shill something, you write the truth.
Not Imagination, Real.
Thank you very much indeed. I can find everything from the articles.
Have a nice day.
