A maturing blockchain sector can mean many things. There’s the replacement of fiat as standard units of currency. Direct relationships between end consumers and supply chains may prove even more impactful. Financial inclusion on a global scale radically shifts the status quo. Factor in supporting activities like quadratic funding, heightened creativity/customization, and more minds empowered to act than ever before, and what becomes clear is a world on the precipice of profound change.
Keys to Change
The key to realizing the events listed above is the advent of mature blockchain networks. What may feel like a forgone conclusion, like consumers more closely connected to supply chain logistics, still must come to pass. That is, blockchain needs conducive infrastructure to reach such levels. Everything from inviting user interfaces to interconnected technologies so that manufacturing through final delivery runs smoothly across multiple blockchains.
Why Popular Blockchains are Inadequate
Proof-of-work networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum weren’t designed to handle a lot of transactions very quickly. They offer redundancy. They work well as occasionally used currency. As a store of value, PoW systems succeed. However, modern consumers expect Amazon-like shopping experiences and Twitter-like intellectual exchange. Moving at the speed of Amazon supply chains and socially relevant NFTs simply isn’t possible on Bitcoin or Ethereum. Well, at least not as they exist today.Â
EOS is Ready Now
Built for both speed and nimble development, EOS and EOSIO (Mandel 3.0) are ready now. EOS Marketplace demonstrates what’s possible for real life applications with every passing day. Sister chain WAX has a growing sea of NFTs. This little chain regular innovates demonstrating ingenious applications all within its small pond.Â
EOS is ready now to demonstrate to the world what’s possible on a mature blockchain. Far beyond a store of value, EOS transactions add depth to modern internet applications. The ability to keep pace with internet speeds coupled with the nimbleness to adapt blockchain technology to fit user preferences adds meaning to blockchain. EOS and WAX users have already eclipsed the sentimental aspects of owning digital intellectual property. For these users, it's about what’s possible.
Blossoming Use Cases
One doesn’t need to tell an EOS user to maintain hope or fill them with promises. EOS users see what blockchain brings to the table. Consider some recent applications:
EdenOS governance and identity
Pomelo community (quadratic) funding
Violet Garden social media platform
Gamebox setting the stage for Gamefi on EOS while helping take WAX NFTs to a new level
Each of the above applications are aggressively being pursued. Users have already awakened to new experiences. The mainnet community is more vibrant than ever. Development progress, increased engagement, and new ideas are daily routines.
Laying the Foundation
Micro-communities continue to form around promising projects. The EOS Network Foundation’s institution of working groups (WG+) may very well have been inspired by the emergence of micro-communities. After all, if coordinating development within the mainnet was of a simplistic hierarchy, why go through the trouble of detailing independent WG+ planning.
WG+ and micro-communities also serve as an illustration of the decentralized nature of EOS. From funding to individuals creating and owning NFTs, EOS/WAX foster constant inspiration. The ENF, Helios, Pomelo and others each found a unique funding niche. Their success continues to demonstrate the endless potential of the mainnet. Add to that nimble development and relative ease of spinning up compatible sister chains. Now EOS looks more like a canvas upon which to create rather than a sluggish traditional blockchain.
Users Tell the Tale
What is blockchain maturity without a profoundly excited user base. Ask about what transpired around the first Eden election. That’s sure to tell a tale. So does Pomelo quadratic funding. ENF recognition grants were exciting for developers, but everyday users aren’t likely to feel the same. Participating in an Eden election excites all types. And here lies a taste of what’s to come. Every Eden member has access to the in-development Violet Garden platform, airdrops, and most recently, Wombat Dungeon staking. Gamebox should prove to be even more eventful very soon. There’s more of course…

Marco - I did spot a spelling error in the second paragraph of ‘Laying the Foundation’ where it says ‘consisten inspiration’. Great article!
Eos is one of the different networks I use. It is very fast and cost-free. I've used a lot, a lot of networks. The networks I like are limited. And one of them is eos. Eos will be valued even more in the future.
