This is right on the money and may be one of the most important articles for people to read and understand. It is also why I am editors that my Son has a UI/UX degree and a passion for Blockchain. I’m really looking forward to see what project he decides to work on. So far he seems most excited about what is happening at Aavegotchi.
For artists (if done with long term in mind) I feel strong intuition that recurring revenues can support future efforts... I've yet to see much on the application for Tarot readers tho... know of anything like that or for poets/musicians ?
Agreed, for artists the NFT space has been revolutionary however, NFT's have so much more potential. Not to mention that NFT's are still severely limited in terms of market reach because on-boarding is still far too complex. Plenty of potential but, still a very long way to go in development for a retail ready user experience. In regards to poets/musicians, there are lots of empty promises but nothing even close to delivery. We will see how that pans out in the coming years
This is a very real problem and it's interesting to look to other industries to see what happened in them.
I think it's important to acknowledge that none of the blockchains have done anything wrong as such, but the natural progression will be from early proof of concept type products, to better and better products as the tech improves and ideas go through the cycle of refinement.
If you look at the car, the original Benz Patent-Motorwagen was revolutionary in terms of technological achievement, but came no where near being able to replace the horse and carriage. It had a 750 watt motor and could travel 100 kilometres at a top speed of 16 kph.
I think blockchain is like that - a novelty where you can see the benefit, but it doesn't quite solve any actual problems yet.
Even in the 70s when cars where mass adopted and practical to own, they still had massive reliability issues on long distances and were not overly safe nor efficient, and a side effect of that is if you performed a road trip you either had to know about how cars worked or have access to service stations along the way.
Today you can walk into a dealer, buy a car, and reasonably expect it to "just work" for years, with the important bit being you don't need any knowledge about how they actually work.
Once blockchain tech gets like that, then we will defs have mass adoption. As you pointed out, when you can just get a wallet and it just works and you don't need to know anything about how the tech works to put coins in it and use them.
I think the last thing that coders and crypto projects seem to think about is the look and functionality of their UX. All their time, money and energy seems to go into the code, but if the UX is crappy then that can be just as problematic as having bad or buggy code.
Poor UX in crypto projects seem to be very common and needs to be address before crypto really hits big time retail users.
I think the whole blockchain access needs to be addressed and turned upside down before crypto can garner big time retail users. The only project that isn't a game that has tried to address this properly is CRO with their Visa partnership. Some projects like Osmosis have amazing user-centric interfaces but the UX still requires an initial period learning how to engage with the system. I believe the industry can get there but it still has a way to go and a lot of discussions on how to achieve that need to be had
Completely agreed, it will take a lot of simplification to attract the mainstream. In it's current state blockchain is way too confusing for most people to use
This is exactly the summary of the current crypto world. For beautiful and valuable things, garbage is included. I think the real beauty is here. Thanks to this, the person who researches wins. He encourages people to do research.
Which, in my opinion, is a natural consequence of the fact that krypton is still developing. Crypto is still a child and is growing up. Most likely, this situation will also become different as you get older.
UI/UX is definitely important for mainstream adoption. It's a pain when you don't know if a transaction failed or not or when there's no information to guide you through a process on a DApp.
We will however, I have noticed there is one effect of decentralisation that causes splintering within chain communities. Noone wants 'one wallet to rule them all' however, at some point something has to give and the best will rise to the top. I imagine it will be those with the best UI/UX
Totally agree with that, and I also think that cryptoGaming maybe is the space to make that improvement in UI/UX or at least where people can try and experiment with projects and diferent ways to make the same thing work better. Axie could be the example that draws the lead but maybe we have other games in the future making important progress and taking steps forward to mainstream.
Completely agreed, the quality of games is still lacking but as soon as one company with the budget to create a seriously good game on a blockchain with a volume of fast enough relayers the whole space will have a literal 'game changing' moment

Thanks for the kind words Adam. Sounds like your pointing your son in the right direction to be well positioned for the digital future

nft books when?? xdd
Good call. So many potential applications for NFT's. Just a matter of time as to when NFT's reach their full potential

Well said, thanks for your reply

Great article, thanks for your thoughts.
Thanks BC, I appreciate your support
I think there is big potential its just learning g it that gets confusing from time to time
