Bitcoin brings freedom, those who seek to control people don't like this freedom because it takes away their power.

I'm a big fan of Bitcoin as a store of value and want to keep seeing it go up! A agree that people who don't understand it are afraid of it. I hoping the lightning network will resolve the speed issues. The proof of work blockchain that gets slower and slower with each transaction and consumes more and more energy isn't sustainable in my opinion. That doesn't mean bitcoin doesn't keep increasing in value, it just means it may not be as "transactional" as everyone expects. The transactions may move to other proof of stake chains that are more efficient and bitcoin becomes the digital assets where you store you wealth for safe keeping.

It’s often hard to say whether the BitCoin promoters are being disingenuous with their arguments promoting or defending crypto or they’re just ignorant or both.

No doubt Xi Jinping wants to use his e-CNY to control what Chinese citizens are doing with their money. Not laundering it is definitely high on that priority list. But it is also true that they way he is implementing it, there’s no policy or practices around privacy protection. But that’s just more of the same CPC policy that opposes and suppresses protecting privacy and human rights. And, the exact same with Russia and all the other autocratic, kleptocratic, and authoritarian regimes.

However, the real and ultimate purpose is exactly the same as promoted here so often by Comrade Sourel: undermine the western liberal democratic financial infrastructure that “runs” most of the world. This is the USD, IMF, World Bank, Swift, etc. And the particular objective as is being trialed first is the extension of China’s control through the Belt-And-Road initiative.

China and Russia have been very clear about their objectives and have now entered into an explicit alliance to undermine the west and its financial control more than anything else.

Of course, we would like to hear what comrade Sourel has to say about western liberal democracy and the alternatives. And what his preferences are. This is really what is practically at issue with the use and misuse of crypto and the silliness around decentralization and “web 3.0”.

This kind of hate on bitcoin irks me to no end. All the rich people out there that are hating on btc when it crashes are the ones that are secretly buying it up with their "Pocket" change.

The kind of pocket change that can save a family of 4 from sleeping in their car, or being able to pay their rent for the next 2 years.

Bitcoin can save the people from their money woes, and help them establish a much better life for them and their families. This is the kind of world I can not wait to live in. I wish I held on to all of the btc I had over the years, I wouldn't be in the position I am in right now. I 100% believe that bitcoin can fix the money problems of the world, and one day hopefully soon it will. I will be able to buy it up again soon I hope, and when I could 🙏 I will.

God Bless all of you beautiful people out there and keep your heads up, even if your in a tough spot like I am. One day I hope it will get better for anyone struggling out there. I will pray for us all. Peace ✌ and Love ❤

The people who are spreading the FUD are generally relying on the fact that most people don’t understand crypto currencies and blockchain tech so will naturally just be wary of it - as a rule of thumb we don’t trust what we don’t understand. There is definitely a big job for crypto enthusiasts to find easy and simple ways to show how blockchain tech can really benefit the average person and how they can participate. The good news is that I’m sure as things evolve, it will become easier and more straightforward to participate. I’m sure we’ll look back on these years and cringe at having so many different unconnected systems and complicated procedures for buying, selling and utilizing crypto for example. In 2025 it’ll probably be as easy as using Apple Pay. Until that time, the community needs to work on better elevator pitches and information campaigns to help fight the FUD and start a real conversation with the general public.
