Definitely agree with the basic tenet of this. Too often, the lazy way to market a product is just to give it away and hope people use it. Crypto is complex enough and still not very well understood widely that I don't think this works well. Show people value and then give me some to play with, sure. But just hoping people will discover the utility is probably wasted on 95%.
The way to express the problem Bitcoin is addressing to someone who has never heard of Bitcoin should be just like you mentioned. Sending Bitcoin as a gift will not be more than an easy-to-reach money for those people.
You might be right on some points but I don't agree this overall. This contradicts to whole idea of airdrops. Yeah many people tend to sell those but it's quite beneficial for everyone to be aware of opportunities and get more information about crypto. If I wasn't aware of Bitcoin and someone gifted me 1 BTC, I would definitely go after it and not sleep on the free money I'd receive...
I think unfortunately you are in the early adopters part of the adoption cycle and may not even realize it! The majority if people who receive something and don't immediately understand it will not use it.
I agree, you can give some BTC to your friend but if they don't understand they'll probably never use it or get involved further. There's gotta be some interest, otherwise it will (most probably) go to waste.
But the point is you are giving this BTC to encourage your friend to understand the concept. Indeed after that it's up to your friend to whether take a part or not. Still I think it's a good method.
An example: Wouldn't you gift your friend a book of your favourite author or your favourite video-game? It's the same concept
I like your opinion of this topic. I agree with it, also I disagree with it. I agree that telling someone the issues that bitcoin can solve is a great idea, this way the can see why bitcoin is needed. For myself when I found bitcoin it was early 2012 I believe. I found games and faucets and was able to earn money just from simply pressing a button every now and again. It wasn't u til I had a substantial amount of it that I then began to understand what it was, and what it was all about. Ever since I started to learn about it and the more I understood why it was made the more I loved it. At first it was the fact that "hey" I can make free money by simply doing a few tasks, which was awesome in itself. After I had a whole bunch of it and I kept it in my bread wallet I believe it was at the time, I forgot about it for a little while and when I checked that wallet like a year and a half later and discovered that the little bit of bitcoin I have saved up was worth a few thousand dollars. Boom, I was instantly hooked. So like I mentioned, I believe that handing out bitcoin before teaching someone about it can work, and it also can be bad. Of course nobody's opinion is wrong or right, it's just that an opinion.
Some people that I try and talk to about bitcoin that have never messed with it before won't really listen, but I bet if I made them a wallet and put some sats in there for them, they may actually take the time to either listen, or do there own research and see what I have been trying to tell them. Thus can go either way, depending on the person that you are dealing with.
Thank you for a good article keep them coming. Peace ✌️ and Love ❤️ to all
İ think this is most sided problem. İf i want to justify you i can. İf i want to wrong you also i can. So this is unpopular and unsolved opinion.
