It is interesting because I have been trying to explain this to friends and family in finance. Most of them are more risk-averse than myself so they feel safer with the ETF but it just doesn't make sense to me. I wouldn't even consider the ETF "dipping your toes" in, but more like walking to the edge and saying "this is close enough to getting in".
